Purpose of the Conference

The aim of the conference is to discuss, assess and explain policies and interventions during the period of socio-economic crisis so as to address the range of derived problems adequately.

Consequently, the topics presented at the conference are mainly related to social deprivation (poverty, unemployment, etc.), with an emphasis on social deprivation, child protection and the defence of human rights. Policies, as well as approaches and social care practices, should focus on child and family.

Based on the above considerations and aiming at exploring the different aspects of these considerations, our wish is to give an opportunity for the voice of the scientific, educational and professional community to be heard, in a context of a productive dialogue for the benefit of the society as a whole and especially for its most vulnerable members.

In the past years, Greece has suffered from the far-reaching impact of the socio-economic crisis and austerity policies. The aim of the conference is to highlight the current policies related to the main thematics of the event and for the participants to reflect on alternative interventions the purpose of which is to adequately address emerging problems.

The topics presented at the conference are mainly related to social deprivation (poverty, unemployment, etc.), with an emphasis on child protection and the defence of human rights. Consequently, policies, as well as approaches of practice and social care methods should primarily focus on child and family.
In the light on the above-mentioned developments, this conference offers the necessary starting point for exploring various forms of practices and debates about them.  It is, therefore, our wish to provide the opportunity for the voice of the scientific, educational and professional community to be heard, in a context of a productive dialogue for the benefit of the society as a whole and especially for its most vulnerable members
